Honesty Isn’t a Tagline: It’s the Backbone of Our Recruiting Business

“Honesty isn’t a tagline. It’s how we run the business—from contracts to compensation.”

Let’s be honest—recruiting firms don’t always have the best reputation. Whether it’s candidates being ghosted, clients feeling oversold, or teams pressured to prioritize revenue over relationships, trust can wear thin in our industry.

That’s exactly why we built our firm around something simple but powerful: honesty.

Not as a marketing message. Not as a value painted on the wall. But as a daily practice that shows up in everything we do.

Why Honesty Matters in Recruiting

We play a pivotal role in people’s careers and in the growth of businesses. That comes with a responsibility.

Honesty helps us:

  • Build trust that lasts beyond a single placement

  • Deliver better candidate experiences with fewer surprises

  • Help our client companies make informed decisions—not just fast ones

The alternative? Short-term wins that erode credibility, lead to misaligned hires, and damage relationships that took months to build.

How We Practice Honesty with Candidates

Article content

Fake Job Postings- More common than you think!

Most candidates have had at least one bad recruiting experience. We aim to be the exception.

  • No fake job postings. Let's face it- most job postings out there operate as fishing nets for resumes. We strive to only have updated job postings out on the market.

  • No false promises. If the job isn’t a fit, we say so. If the salary is lower than market, we tell them. We do not try to fit a square peg in a round hole.

  • If we cannot help you, we will tell you up front. We will never string you along.

  • We give real feedback. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Especially then. How else can we help candidates learn and improve?

  • We communicate through the entire process. No ghosting. No silence. We set the terms up front- we communicate when there is something to communicate, even if it is a no!

  • We advocate for people, not placements. A candidate’s long-term success matters more than our short-term commission.

How We Practice Honesty with Clients

It’s tempting to nod and smile when a client asks for the impossible. We don’t do that.

  • We push back when expectations don’t match reality. Hiring a senior-level electrician at apprentice pay? Not going to happen.

  • We walk away if values don’t align. If a client won’t treat candidates fairly, we won't be the partner that helps them do it.

  • We are honest about turnaround. We do not make promises we cannot keep or guarantees we cannot fulfill. We will tell you if we cannot help.

  • We price transparently. No hidden fees, no fine print.

  • We won't waste your time. We take the time to find out about your company and what you are looking for in a candidate - and that is who we send you.

  • We send fewer resumes. But they’re the right ones—qualified, aligned, and vetted. You will not receive resumes that do not make sense.

How We Practice Honesty Internally

You can’t ask your team to operate with integrity if leadership doesn’t do the same.

  • Everyone knows how they get paid. No confusion, no games.

  • We have high expectations of our team That are communicated honestly.

  • We talk openly about performance. What’s working, what’s not, and what we’re learning.

  • We invite honest feedback. And act on it.

  • We celebrate ethical decisions. Even when they cost us money.

The Challenges of Leading with Honesty

Telling the truth isn’t always easy. And it isn’t always profitable in the short term.

  • We’ve lost deals because we didn’t tell clients what they wanted to hear.

  • We’ve had to deliver hard truths to candidates when the outcome wasn’t in their favor.

  • We’ve said no when others said yes.

But through it all, we’ve built trust. Real, long-lasting trust. When our long-time clients have a need, they call us. We have always said- do not trust us- test us.

Why It Pays Off

Integrity isn’t just good ethics—it’s good business.

  • Clients come back. Because they trust us to tell them the truth.

  • Candidates refer their friends. Because we treat them like people, not pipelines.

  • Our team is proud. And that pride shows in everything they do.

  • Our reputation grows. Because honesty stands out in an industry full of smoke and mirrors.

Conclusion

Honesty isn’t a tagline. It’s how we run this business—every day, with every person, in every decision.

And if you’re building a business—or hiring for one—ask yourself:

What would it look like to lead with honesty, even when it’s inconvenient?

If you’re looking for a recruiting partner who tells you the truth (even when it’s not what you expected), we’d love to connect.
